Every once in a while, the universe sends you a present. Last December, it sent me two.

Parents.com hired me to write an article explaining central auditory processing disorder (CAPD or APD) and how it’s diagnosed and treated. An estimated 5 percent of school-age children, or 2.5 million children, have APD. Yet few parents and educators know much, if anything, about it.
