The Context Behind “For Context”

Dear reader,

So, you’ve stumbled upon this semi-ironically-titled, cute, artsy Medium page (thanks 😉). Right now, you’re probably wondering: what even is for context? What’s it to me? And why, exactly, is it called for context?!? Well, for context is a podcast founded by us, 5 University of Waterloo students currently in 1B Systems Design Engineering. It’s a casual conversation where we candidly discuss some of our dreams, failures, and motivations as we step into the world of tech. We’ll share our favourite stories and struggles through the university application process, university term retros, internship experiences, and beyond. It really is just a memory box we’d like to keep for ourselves to reflect back on.

Since we’re all a bit different, we’re building this with the hope that there’s a story for everyone. We’re all a bit different so we’re building this podcast with the hope that there’s a story you can relate to. Whether that be our stories as women navigating the tech industry, our lives as university students, exploring different cities and roles through internships, and more! We’re here to talk about everything going on around us from our perspectives as we learn and grow over the next couple years of our lives!

So, whether you’ve discovered this page while tirelessly researching university options, heard about us from a friend, or simply got redirected while scrolling through the depths of r/uwaterloo reddit at the early (late?) hours of the morning, welcome! We’re happy you’re here. 😊

P.S. You’re probably still thinking, “Cool, but I still don’t know why it’s called for context?” Stick around, dear reader, we can’t resolve everything just yet…
