Craig Landale is the mastermind behind influential and popular blog Menswear Style so knows a thing or two about how to dress to impress. Here Craig shares his Top Five Tips to improve any man’s wardrobe.

  1. Invest in quality well-made classic menswear staples such as a navy suit, wool overcoat, brogue shoes, blue jeans and knitwear. Having the classics such as these is like the skeleton and you can style many outfits from them.
  2. Don’t chase all the menswear trends each season — this can be very expensive and you may also look back with embarrassment on some of your style choices.
  3. Always try on clothing and get a second opinion before making the purchase. Fit is one of the most important aspects to great style and really does make a difference.
  4. Only buy things you’re comfortable wearing — often great style goes hand-in-hand with confidence and it’s difficult to fake confidence. If you’re wearing something which isn’t “you” and you feel self-conscious inside, then simply don’t wear it.
  5. Pay attention to the details — socks, watches, cufflinks, pocket squares, ties, sunglasses…these small items can really lift an outfit and add a great deal of personality to your look.
