Vivaldi can be customized to give you almost 100% of your screen

Unless you use a Mac, it is a good bet you use Chrome or a Chrome-derived browser. Even Microsoft Edge is now based on Chrome. While it has its imperfections, Chrome supports modern features and — more importantly — supports extensions. Some of these extensions are critical for writers, like Grammarly, for example.

If you want to try a new browser, it is hard to leave behind all the stuff you are used to on Chrome. But with Vivaldi, you don’t have to. Since Vivaldi is Chrome underneath, things work as you expect and even most extensions will work just fine. Like Chrome, Vivaldi is free so there’s no reason not to give it a try.

So Why Vivaldi?

If it is so much like Chrome, why not just use Chrome? Turns out Vivaldi has several key features that make it a better browser than Chrome:

  • Ad and tracking blocking are built-in. So is a good reader view that strips out unnecessary content.
  • Many other features are built-in so you won’t need to load so many extensions.
  • Extremely customizable using CSS and JavaScript, but even with just normal settings, much more customizable than standard Chrome.
