It’s almost four in the afternoon.
“I think it’s time.”
These are the simple words my boss would utter as the clock ticked closer to that time.
She knew I wouldn’t mind stopping whatever it was I was working on and prepare for our weekly ritual…
Wine and Cheese Fridays.
The Preparation
I love a charcuterie board.
I love putting them together.
Selecting cheeses, meats, crackers, bread, jam spreads, and of course, wine.
Earlier in the day, I had gone to Trader Joe’s on my way to work. Sometimes I did this shopping during work. “I need to get supplies,” I’d say.
“Take your time.”
She needed the ritual as much as I did. We all did.
The twelve-hour plus days we endured as a team took its toll on us, and by Friday, everyone was ready to step away from their computer screens and convene in our office for a relaxing way to end the week.
I pulled out a little folding table, threw a plastic tablecloth over it, and set out all the goodies.
