The old office of Creativeworks, cofounded by Kwun in 2005

Shameless advertisement:

10 years ago, I left my banking job to join Kwun Yeung’s little digital solution company he cofounded back in 2005. We have built an alive but stagnant company — which I guess was the worst result a startup could get. We swore not to commit the same mistakes again. [1]

2 years ago, we are revitalized by blockchain technology and decided to start a new journey. Forbole was born. We have covered our journey here:

1 year ago, we have concluded our direction and asked our friends for support. Without funding from VCs, we have made some progress:

I found that some of our investors were changed by us: they have become more blockchain/crypto savvy. In fact, they have become more open-minded than before no matter this is about technology, politics or philosophy. Widening the base of our investors is such a good way to educate the market. [2]

When we look back, the first 8 years of our journey have play an indispensable role to our career. We learn and know what are the dos and dont’s. Jae Kwon put it well: “Don’t spend too much time convincing people, who are convinced that you are wrong.” [3]:

Japan Blockchain Week is coming!

We will be in Tokyo (4–6 Oct) and Osaka (7–13 Oct). Come talk to us if you are interested in Forbole or Desmos (introduction). In particular, we will join:

5 Oct: Node Tokyo Day

7 Oct: Dapper Labs & Friends: Web3 Business Models

7 Oct: SOLCON x DevCon

9 Oct: Cosmos Community Event

9 Oct: Official Cosmos Afterparty to Devcon V

[1] Still, Creativeworks is alive and providing a small passive income to both Kwun and myself which can cover our daily expenses and buy some $BTC regularly.

[2] Thanks to innovations such as Simple Agreement for Future Equity by Y Combinator, we as a startup can enjoy an easy and convenient way to do fundraising.

[3] This speech by Jae has inspired us to name the transaction token of our Desmos project as “Phanero”. We then study further and name the project as “Desmos”.
