Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Chennai Super Kings comfortably in their second clash. The yellow giants did restrict RCB on a decent score but failed to achieve the final target. It marked the seventh loss for the Kings in ten matches.
The match started after Chennai Super Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first in the game. The decision resulted in a strong opening partnership by captain Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli. Both the batsman gave the start to the team in the powerplay overs and pulled a fifty-run stand.
However, Faf and Kolhi got dismissed by the bowling department of Super kings right after the powerplay. It halted the run rate and impacted their boundary percentage for a while.
The young members of the team gave RCB a fighting chance in the game. Mahipal Lomror scored a riveting 42 runs off just twenty-seven balls and boosted the middle overs. The final fireworks got initiated by the in-form batsman Dinesh Karthik.
Chennai also received a good opening stand from Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway but failed to capitalize on it. Ruturaj got dismissed at a score of 28 runs, followed by wickets in quick succession. The only positive was the consecutive half-century from Devon Conway.
Harshal Patel implemented his slow deliveries and sent M.Ali back to the pavilion at a crucial point in the game. He also slowed the game down for Chennai Super Kings and ultimately finished the innings.
The chances of Chennai qualifying this season are very thin. The team needs all the luck by their side with multiple victories. However, Chennai is known for making such a comeback and creating history in the game.
