There are many reasons why we take pictures of food. We can boast about it, Instagram it, get likes for it, get comments for it, so on and so forth. In order to improve the engagement on your pics, we at Foresting, wishes to serve you 5 tips on how to shoot food photos like a pro. Hope this helps you a lot.

First, find a bright place. Set the food near a window or on a well-lit space where you have enough light to shoot. Never use your flashlight.

Second, try shooting from the top. You can never go wrong with a nice foodie flat lay. Even food ads are usually shot from the top.

Third, don’t be afraid of zooming-in. You don’t need to have every part of the food in your shot. Zooming-in and emphasizing just one part will do great.

Fourth, use props such as forks, knives, etc. If props catch too much attention, you can either leave them out, or use it to emphasize the food. Try to put some food on your spoon and have a nice bokeh in the background.

Lastly, edit your photos by using apps.
Color is the most important factor in food photography. Especially when the shooting conditions aren’t in your favor, you can use apps like Foodie, VSCO, or Facetune to enhance your photos. It’ll make your food picture look better.

Even if you’re not a professional photographer, with these tips, you can improve your shots. Trust your smartphone too. You don’t necessarily need expensive cameras or gears, as smartphones nowadays are equipped with amazing technology.
