Ever wonder if there are some cool hacks you can implement in your everyday routine that can make your smile as radiant as can be? Besides your daily routine of brushing/flossing/rinsing, there are some cool tips we’re sharing here to help your smile shine even brighter!

Remineralize your teeth and prevent acid erosion —

Using a product like Mi Paste which containts a special milk-derived protein that releases vital minerals into your mouth (calcium and phosphate), you can help protect your teeth by redepositing these lost minerals back into the oral environment after they are lost due to consuming acidic foods and beverages.

Our daily habits such as drinking sodas, wines, or sugary drinks can soften and strip tooth enamel leading to tooth erosion, sensitivity, soft and brown spots along the gumline and eventually cavities. You can counteract the effects of harmful daily habits by incoporating MI Paste into your daily oral care routine. MI Paste will neautralize the harmful acids in your mouth and balance your oral pH so that the acids won’t harm your teeth.

How to Use: MI Paste is safe and can be used several times daily (or directed by your dental professional or physician). It’s also very easy to apply!

  • Use a pea sized amount using a gloved finger or cotton swab.
  • MI Paste can also be added to dental trays or nightguard trays to be worn for longer periods of time or overnight, consult your dental professional to have trays created for you.

Antioxidants for your gums —

ProVantage from Periosciences contains vital antioxidant nutrients which can help revitalize gums, decrease inflammation and give your gums a healthier, more youthful appearance.

ProVantage contains key elements that help achieve optimal gum health:

  • Menthol — a purified form of peppermint oil and has excellent antibacterial and antifungal properties.
  • Sage Oil — has been used to treat sore throats and coughs, as well as dental abscesses, infected gums and mouth ulcers.
  • Thymol is a natural phenol compound derivative found in oil of thyme with strong antimicrobial attributes. Thymol has also demonstrated antifungal activity and anti-inflammatory effects including inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
  • Clove Flower Oil is a natural substance known for its antibacterial capabilities and its aenesthetic powers. In a low concentration, it is effective to alleviate symptoms of irritation in the oral cavity and provide antibacterial support
  • Xylitol — Found in the fibers of many fruits and vegetables, is a sugar alcohol sweetener used as a naturally occurring sugar substitute. Xylitol is specific in its inhibition of the mutans streptococci group, bacteria that are significant contributors to tooth decay.

How to Use: AO ProVantage is designed to be applied once daily. Ideally used at night after brushing. After applying AO ProVantage do not eat or drink for 30 minutes to allow gel maximum time on soft oral tissue.

  • Apply a pea-sized amount each to your upper and lower gums using your fingertips, cotton swab or soft toothbrush.
  • Allow the gel to dissolve and expectorate (spit out) excess. Do not swallow.

Remove bacteria with Oil Pulling

Oil pulling is an ancient ayurvedic oral detoxification method, which has caught popularity in recent years, due to its natural benefits of cleansing the mouth. The use of coconut oil to oil pull can make your teeth look whiter by keeping your teeth slick, making stains less likely to stick to your teeth.

When you swish the oil around your mouth, bacteria around your teeth gets trapped in the oil and leave your mouth when you spit out the oil. Plaque traps bacteria around your teeth, so when you swish, you help to remove the plaque and bacteria with it. Coconut oil also keeps your gums healthier. The antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-fungal properties found in coconut oil can inhibit bacteria that cause bad breath, tooth decay, and gum disease.

How to use: The way to use coconut oil is to swish it around your mouth for a few minutes and then spit the oil out.

When paired with a complete oral health routine including brushing, flossing, and rinsing & tongue cleaning, the above tips can help prevent periodontal disease and other systemic diseases by removing harmful bacteria and neutralizing acids in your mouth — Not to mention leaving you with a clean mouth, fresh breath, and bright smile!
