5 interesting paleo breakfast ideas & a simple formula for many more
I’m a relative newcomer to the paleo lifestyle and by no means a strict convert. I dabbled out of curiosity rather than necessity. Still, I was shocked to hear the “father of Germany’s paleo movement” list the following as his favorite breakfast items during the Q&A at an event last year: (1) sweet scrambled eggs, (2) leftover curry, (3) fasting (i.e. no breakfast at all). That made me sad.
So I decided to do a paleo breakfast series on my blog as a fun way to challenge my culinary creativity. To all my paleo homies out there: just because you’re rockin’ that caveman diet doesn’t mean you have to start off your day, everyday, with a handful of nuts and a banana. Here are five grain-free, dairy-free breakfast ideas for people who love food.
1. Everything bagel avocado toast
Just because you’ve sworn off grains doesn’t mean toast has to be a thing of the past. This primal spin on a brunch favorite comes together in less than thirty minutes.
2. Coconut chia pudding with grilled pineapple
Somewhere between a breakfast and dessert dish, this chia seed pudding is finished with a coconut simple syrup and kind of has a mango sticky rice vibe.
3. Bacon shakshuka with paleo flatbread
This post offers two recipes for the price of one: a tasty, straight-forward shakshuka made extra special with paleo-friendly naan.
4. Prosciutto-wrapped mini frittatas with tomato and basil
These portable flavor bombs are perfect for your morning commute.
5. Chestnut crepes with ham and egg
Whole-grain mustard and fresh herbs add a touch of sophistication to this French bistro staple.
6. Whatever you’ve got in your fridge!
It’s not difficult to throw together a delicious paleo breakfast on a weekday if you keep a few staples on hand. Follow this simple formula to come up with endless savory breakfast variations.
