Trust.

As a small business, we have a big advantage.

We don’t have to live in fear like many larger businesses.

We can afford the luxury of trust.

And it is a big deal.

It is massively exciting.

It’s enabling us to create the culture we always wanted for 572.

During our two-week sprint planning, the idea was thrown in that we should include personal goals. As part of our two-week focus, we should be scheduling time for ourselves. An afternoon for dog walking; kitesurfing; a course; time with family; woodworking; painting the house.

We spend time and energy supporting each other in our work projects so why not support each other in smaller personal projects.

This went through without objection. So our personal goals/rewards went up on the board.

This can only work with trust.

This can only work if we’re open and honest with each other.

It’s a risk.

But the upside will be so much greater.

Shared success; personal development; motivation; happiness.

We know we’ll all double down and get through the projects. It’s in all of our interests to make this work.

If the projects are getting completed this is exactly how we should be rewarding ourselves as a team.

Small wins.
