Unbeknownst to me, a pancake can be made out of beets.
At first glance, I was pleased. A confectionary display of promising charm. But how does it taste?
I had to find out…
It’s been a while since I’ve had a good stack. I’ve been more selective with my pancakes lately.
And after a little dry spell, you can’t help but sit back and want to just admire the mouthful you’re about to take…anticipating how the syrup filled bite will expand in your mouth, painting the bed of your tongue and the roof of your mouth with indulgent decadence.
I tenderly cut through the layers with my fork before taking hold of what I could handle.
After lathering the little pillow of bliss with the sweet sauce of a tall, chiseled, maple tree, I lifted my fork in eager anticipation.
My tongue met the fluff of pancake before it even got past my lips.
I was thrown on a carousel of flavors, riding the beets, while catching wind of the creamy cardamom.
With a rising hint of mint, I lost control as my eyes rolled to the back of my head at a citrus crescendo.
That was amazing.
If for nothing else, I’d come back for this pancake.
