A Recovery Journey

From October 1, 2018 to October 1, 2020, viewed over 500,000 times on Facebook.

Katherine Ponte is on a recovery journey. She is in recovery from bipolar I disorder. Katherine first received this diagnosis in 2000, but rejected it. Bipolar lurked in and out of the shadows untreated for years. The consequences were severe. Ultimately in 2006 she was first hospitalized for a bipolar manic episode. Every fourth year since, in the spring or summer, Katherine has been hospitalized for a severe manic episode. 2018 might have been just like those other painful anniversaries. The year is not through, but Katherine feels better equipped than ever to break the cycle. Over the past four years, Katherine redefined how she would live with her mental illness. She took ownership of her condition and embraced the prospect and pursuit of recovery. She recognized that she can live a full and meaningful life with mental illness. Her recovery journey has led her to create ForLikeMinds to help other people pursue their own recovery journey. It is fitting that ForLikeMinds is being launched in a year when Katherine “should” be hospitalized yet again for a manic episode. On this anniversary, she is celebrating and promoting recovery with ForLikeMInds. We want this launch to set in motion many happy anniversaries for its members.

ForLikeMinds is dedicated to the recovery and wellness of people living with or supporting someone with mental illness, substance use, or a stressful life event. We empower members to connect and communicate one-on-one and in groups with people that have relatable backgrounds. Our person-driven platform allows peer-based support that can rekindle hope, inspire, and inform the recover journeys of our members. The recovery journey starts with hope and is nourished by the support of like minds sharing their lived experience.
