The Internet is home to many people and that does not exclude developers, as developers we appreciate the existance of online developer communities and the collaboration but how different is it to physical developer communities?
Developer communities
These are a common way for developers to come together with people whom they share interests, there is a couple of things that happens within developer communities and this varies from one community to another.
Online Communities turn to focus more on specific subjects, these mostly are for programming language support or Q&A based communities like Stackoverflow , forums like FreeCodeCamp, Gitter and others.
Location based meetups
Dev meetups are now on the rise with formation of different developer communities in different countries around the world and some supported by major companies like google with GDG and Facebook being behind Developer Circles around the world, and now on the rise our own forLoop Africa which is connecting developers and tech enthusiasts across Africa. These communities are bringing together computer science students, tech enthusiasts, advanced developers and those who are starting their career as developers, with the aim to share knowledge and teach the skills on the market.
