ForLoopOAU Hackathon: Hack IFE!

ForLoop Africa is a community of and for all tech enthusiast and passionate developers in Africa. It has been able to awaken the fire in developers and given a platform to showcase Africa’s talent to the world.

In light of this spread, various meetups and hackathons are being organized across the continent to develop and discover talents.

And now it’s time for Ife to catch the fire.

ForLoop OAU

ForloopOAU Hackathon is finally here! Tagged HACK IFE. This is a great chance for the awesome talents in OAU to prove themselves again. It’s no news on the quality of developers born at OAU. They are well on the way! The forLoop team will be at the university to organize this maiden forLoop event.

Event Details

The hackathon is to hold as follows:

• Date: 29th — 30th of June
• Venue: Step B, Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
• Time: 6pm on the 28th till 6pm on the 29th of June (We may have to stay overnight)

Participation

Interested participants should apply here. Applications open from now till 28th June 2018. Participants can choose to work in teams and you can also work alone(lone rangers). Communication would be via email and the forloop slack.

Criteria

Each participant is free to build awesome products on provided APIs and services but must meet certain criteria, including:

• The application must have a real-world use case.
• The application must be web or mobile and should be optimized for mobile devices if it is a web application.
• Participants must utilize at least one of the sponsors API.
• Applications will be open-source on GitHub.
• Participants must start and build the application during the duration of the hackathon.

Scope

The Scope of the hackathon and APIs to be hacked will be announced on the 28th of June 2018.

This hackathon is open to all students of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife.

Prizes

The prizes as customary with Hackathons will be awarded to the teams or individuals coming in the top three positions:

1st Prize: NGN 50,000 + Offer letter for a paid Internship with sponsors.

2nd Prize: NGN 25,000 + Offer letter for a paid Internship with sponsors.

3rd Prize: Offer letter for a paid Internship with sponsors.

And of course, we do not forget the swags! There will be swags for all participants and awards for outstanding performances.
