As we approach the end of 2018, we come upon a time of year where many people like to make “New Year’s Resolutions” in the hope of drastically altering their behavior. Many set goals to be more disciplined, fit, compassionate, or whatever else they think will make them a better person in the upcoming year. I, however, like to employ a bit of a reverse tradition — instead of focusing on what I need to change next year, I contemplate and assess all the lessons I’ve learned in the previous year so that I can be a better human being and business person not just in the upcoming but in the many years ahead.
2018 has come and gone in the blink of an eye, but there are so many valuable takeaways to contemplate it is hard to know where to begin. For me personally, as a first-time founder, I keep reminding myself that ideas are only as good as their execution. The idea of creating a treasury management platform and surrounding financial services ecosystem for crypto assets holders is more relevant today than ever. As the dust settles from a one-year boom/bust cycle, it is clear that many industry stakeholders could have benefitted from simple and straightforward tools for custody, brokerage, and hedging.
The key is and will continue to be execution. That means delivering novel features through platform partnerships, onboarding clients with specific use case needs, and continuously seeking opportunities to develop new frontiers. For all but a select few companies in the blockchain space, grandiose visions have fallen flat when confronted with reality. While the future remains unclear, a consensus is emerging that more transparency, better governance, and appropriate regulations will be necessary to bring some much-needed sobriety to the blockchain industry. 2018 will be remembered as the year blockchain went mainstream. 2019 and beyond will be the viewed as the period or responsible convergence towards a balance between innovation and stakeholder safety.
My singular focus in 2019 will be enhancing Formosa Financial’s ability to deliver on the vision that I started to lay out nearly a year ago. With change comes opportunity… we are excited to drive down the road ahead!

We’ve passed ten thousand twitter followers! We’ve seen a large influx of followers come in from China and Korea these last few weeks, no doubt as a result of Formosa Financial being in the Mainland China and Korean press/media quite a bit from our partnerships with WanChain and now CoolBitX.
Our team also attended a few local events like the Taiwan Blockchain X’mas Meetup whilst also getting some recognition on twitter from Asiacryptotoday and Crypto101.
