This is a quick guide for our users to sell and buy artworks via FormosArt.io, please follow the steps below with the desktop version — https://www.formosart.io/index

For artists and creators to sell artworks as NFTs

Step 1: Submit an application with at least one artwork for our team to review.

How to sign up with FormosArt.

As we carefully select artists and artworks for our gallery to ensure the community we are building will bring long-term success to our artists, our team will review each application thoroughly.

Step 2: Install a Metamask wallet in your Chrome or Brave browser.

This is to make sure when artworks are sold that artists will receive the funds immediately as our site does not hold funds, and that’s the beauty of cryptocurrency payment systems.

Create a wallet here: https://metamask.io/

Step 3: Receive an approval email with a password.

The applicants will receive an email (*please check your spam folder if you have not received the email) from our team with a password if the application was successful. The next step is to come back to the FormosArt site and:

1. Use the email login with the password you received in the email.

2. Set up a new password and connect to a wallet (Auto link to wallet by clicking ‘Connect wallet’ button or by manually copying the wallet address from Metamask and pasting it to the wallet option).

Important note: you must connect to a Metamask wallet to continue step 4.

Step 4: Upload artworks to be reviewed, tokenized and sell them as NFTs.

Upload artwork in FormosArt.

In this step, we encourage artists to fill out the artwork name, description, price, etc precisely, as after the artwork is converted to an NFT we won’t be able to revise the token.

However, there’s an exception: if we discover that you are not the creator of the artwork, we will destroy the NFT immediately.

Step 5: Notification by FormosArt team when your artworks have been tokenized and are live in the gallery.

Artists will receive an email from our team informing the progress and you can view the artwork(s) on our site.

So, what now? Well, you are ready to sell your artwork as an NFT!

What’s the advantage of owning NFTs?

The Ethereum blockchain empowers to create an immutable ledger to provide digital evidence of possession and timestamps thus preventing art forgery to protect creators and asset ownership.

Therefore, NFTs make it possible for creators to generate a unique digital signature that is authenticated by the Ethereum blockchain on their own creation and offers buyers the opportunity to own the original piece digitally signed by the creator.

It applies the same principles as physical painted artworks — you may duplicate an image a million times but only the original artwork, digitally signed by the artist holds value.
