A message from Forward Through Ferguson Executive Director, Annissa McCaskill

As the year comes to a close, I continue to support Forward Through Ferguson (FTF) because of its unwavering commitment to addressing systemic racial inequities in the St. Louis region. My stake in this work lies in the belief that every individual deserves a chance to live a dignified and fulfilling life, free from the constraints of systemic, generation-suppressing racism. Racial Equity, to me, means creating a community where everyone has fair opportunities to thrive, regardless of their race or background. Will you please consider making a gift of any amount to support the advancement of Racial Equity in our region?

Annissa McCaskill, a Black woman with natural salt and pepper hair, with a bright smile, black blazer with AKA pin, and t-shirt with Nina Simone quote: “I’ll tell you what freedom is to me, NO FEAR.” On the left a quote by Annissa, “Every individual deserves the chance to live a dignified and fulfilling life, free from the constraints of systemic, generation-suppressing racism.” There is a light blue background behind her and Forward Through Ferguson logo and forwardthroughferguson.org/donate

Looking ahead, I am excited about the next year of work for FTF because of our innovative and collaborative approach to advancing sustainable change through community engagement and data-driven strategies. But this excitement is sobered by the understanding that 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the killing of Michael Brown Jr. We must always be clear why FTF came into existence.

I am excited to be a part of this important work in 2024, but I remain humbled and ever #unflinching. My hopes for the St. Louis region are centered on fostering inclusivity, opportunity, and justice for all residents, particularly those who have been historically marginalized. What sets FTF’s approach apart is that it is comprehensive and intersectional, addressing the multifaceted nature of Racial Equity and catalyzing meaningful progress across various sectors and communities. If you haven’t already, I hope you will invest in another year of anti-racist systems change work to dismantle ingrained structures of oppression and build a more just society for future generations.
