A round up of everything we’ve been up to here at Forward Fooding

As 2020 approaches, the festive period offers a time to slow down and reflect on the year gone by. Goals achieved, targets met, and a time to show gratitude to the whole host of supporters who have been by our side in 2019.

At Forward Fooding, this was no ordinary year!

Driven by Data

Q1 saw us busy gearing up for the successful launch of our pioneering FoodTech Data Intelligence platform in Q2, where we now have over 3,700 FoodTech ecosystem actors mapped to date including 2,092 FoodTech Startups & 1,145 Investors.

FoodTech Data Navigator

With Corporate clients, FoodTech accelerators and Investors all using our data to support their open innovation and investment ventures, we couldn’t be happier with the feedback we’ve received.

‘As an investor interested in investing in AgriFoodTech companies I use the FoodTech Data Navigator as a one-stop-shop to identify new investment opportunities, track the development of companies and even manage portfolios of companies I have invested in’.

Severine Balick, Founder & CEO @ Matador Ventures.

‘We were impressed by The FoodTech Data Navigator’s ability to track and deliver up-to-the-minute insights on key players in the FoodTech industry, something that was proving very difficult to do manually for us. It has been a game-changer for us and our business, and we can’t recommend it enough.’

Finding The FoodTech 500

In September we launched our global search to discover the world’s first FoodTech 500 and shortlisted the 500 finalists from over 1,200 applications.

Download the list of FoodTech 500 finalists at https://foodtech500.forwardfooding.com

We announced the finalists at Food Matters Summit, you can hear our podcast interview about it right here.

We’re currently working on ranking each business based on business size score, digital footprint score and sustainability score to create the final ranking, which will be released on 4th February 2020.

Community and Collaboration

We also continued to support the FoodTech community with 5 events in our Future of Food Meetup Series in partnership with Thought For Food in London, covering topics such as Reducing Food Waste and Revolutionising Packaging, with speakers from Winnow Solutions, Mimica and Karma App.

Forward Fooding COO, Max Leveau relocated to Italy to help build Rome’s very own FoodTech community with 3 #FoodTechRoma Meetup events in the second half of the year.

Founder Alessio D’Antino could be found on stage at varying FoodTech events including Sweden FoodTech, Food Matters Live, Food Matters Summit, Roma Startup Week, Google Pitch Day to name but a few. Max and Alessio also acted as mentors at various EIT Food Programmes across Europe.

We even made it to China and spoke at The Food and Beverage Innovation Forum 2019, spreading our FoodTech message and encouraging corporates and startups to make collaboration their competitive advantage.

So as we enter the holiday period, and there is time for bit of reflection; I would like to extend a special thank you for being part of our journey and for your continued support this year.

We have ambitious plans for 2020 and look forward sharing the FoodTech 500 official ranked list with you on 4th February 2020, amongst other exciting things.

Have a great festive season and we’ll see you in 2020!
