Honestly though, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples have talked about this many, many times. We are on stolen land that was never ceded and as much as we would like to think, many of the injustice and dispossession facing the First Nations Peoples never stopped. It’s past time for us to recognise the existing massive human-rights-abusing flaws in this country and fix them. If you want to read something eloquent, why not take a few minutes to listen to the people directly affected by ongoing colonisation and injustice, rather than you know, Tony friggin -beep- :

“To deny us the right to mourn our ancestors, and instead actively urge us to celebrate the attempted destruction of our culture, is to continue enabling the perpetrators of violence.”
