I am Snehal Sha, now a 3rd year CS student at MEsiuuuu.
So.. recently I got a pretty niche internship at a cool company called Ansys and I was asked to share my journey so here it goes.
Chapter 1
Just google it
As kids, most of us aren’t faced with a lot of problems (unless of course we are very naughty kids and have to get away with our vices). Well in my case, my cousin introduced me to computer games, (Vice City and Hitman 2) and I was hooked, buying actual game CD’s were unheard of in 2009, so we’d download pirated copies from torrents and because BSNL’s internet speeds were amazing back then, we had to download compressed copies, which even then would take weeks to download, which then we’d extract for 3 hours to get the actual games; we’d install them and click play.
‘Dhumm’ “error : MSVCP100.dll missing”
Panic, sadness, remorse; what has happened? It’s not working, what do we do?
Genius cousin: “Google’il adich nokk” (“google it”)
Oh, apparently many others have faced the same issue.. you need to download that “.dll” file and put it in this folder and it should run.
Boom, we’re in. 100's of games, 1000's of problems, never gave up on any game (except Don Bradman Cricket 14 which had to be played on an Xbox emulator which was nearly impossible to key bind to windows).
Almost all of your problems are not unique, there are 7,750,000,000 people on earth, others almost certainly have had the same problem, asked about it on the internet, and someone much smarter than us would have answered it just out of goodwill. All we have to do is just google it.
Life pro tip: while googling for things, put “reddit” at the end of the query; it is the smart people’s samsthaana sammelanam (huge gathering).
