This is probably as subpar as it comes for FOMO Festival, now in its fourth year (if I had to rank them from best to worst, I’d go 2016 > 2018 > 2019 > 2017). It’s not that it lacks star-power, but perhaps has a little too much and doesn’t tick the right boxes.

Up the top we’ve got Nicki Minaj, Rae Sremmurd and Lil Pump — three acts about which I give little to no shits. Chances are they’d be fun acts to see live, but they’re acts I can do without.

The next line is where FOMO hits big. Mura Masa has been on my to-see list for a long time. Despite the fact that his debut self-titled album was unimpressive, his earlier mixtape and EP are incredible. From what I’ve seen, he’d be one of those producers who does his best to recreate his songs live on stage, which would be a treat. Kali Uchis is making her way down south for the first time bringing her latest LP Isolation, which was a good listen. Her bubbly neo-soul-pop tunes have taken her to new heights and her growing diva status means that her stage presence will make for a quality performance. Bringing home line two is San Holo, who’s high profile remixes and unique trap sound will surely be means for a party.

After that, there are a few Aussie names who would be worth seeing but don’t do much in the way of persuasion, including Anna Lunoe, Just a Gent and Camouflage Rose. All in all, we’ve seen better and we’ve seen worse but this one misses the mark with me.

Does Sam Rate It? Nah

Will Sam Be There? Probably miss this one.
