The documentary “Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words” reveals the multifaceted nature of the Houston rapper as she tenaciously navigates fame, grief, pressure, and success.

The documentary centers on the July 2020 shooting where she was the victim. It begins by introducing Megan Pete and her journey to becoming the stage persona known to the public.

Megan Pete created Megan Thee Stallion as armor to protect herself. While she didn’t provide enough context, she did reveal that she faced bullying for her height.

Her mom’s influence was pivotal in shaping her rap career. Her mom passed away just as her career was taking off, which she was managing. Her dad died when she was in the 9th grade, a loss she never fully processed.

Her music became a means to demand respect, embrace her sexuality, and cope. Over time, it transformed into a way for her to open up about these losses and more.
