Gianna Floyd, daughter of George Floyd.

The world occasionally witnesses white supremacy and racism in the US. On May 25, Minneapolis police officers arrested George Floyd.

Derek Chauvin, one of four police officers who arrived on the scene, knelt on Floyd’s neck for 9 minutes and 29 seconds, and Floyd was killed. Tragically, he knelt on his neck and took George’s future away from him while the world watched in horror.

Massive protests were held for days, but racism, police brutality, and white privilege is ingrained in this land!

So what should we do?!

What we must do is to continue to say his name, demand accountability, and take action against these tragic injustices.

I believe, as MLK said that “there comes a time when silence is betrayal.”

Today as we remember the life of George Floyd we are reminded that the fight for justice, equal protection under the law, and accountability is far from over.

To conclude, what we must do is to take action against these racial acts and white supremacy. Because “Lightning makes no sound until it strikes.”

We won’t forget that “Our lives begin to end the day we remain silent about the things that matter.” So let’s fight to achieve our rights.
