Founder Gym Expands to Help More Underrepresented Founders Create Wealth
Today, we are making a big announcement that gets at the core of our mission:
Founder Gym uses entrepreneurship to shift wealth into the hands of underrepresented founders and the communities they serve.
But first, I want to share how we arrived at this point and why it’s so important.
When I launched Founder Gym in 2018, it was with the intention to ensure more underrepresented founders had the chance to participate in the wealth-creation vehicle that is tech entrepreneurship. This vehicle has been perfected by White men, who have become its #1 benefactors:
- 80% of venture capital partners are White men
- 77% of venture-backed founders are White and 90% of them are men
- 65% of employees in leadership positions at the top tech companies are White men
Here’s how White men create wealth for themselves using tech:
White male investors fund White male founders who then use that capital to hire their friends, other White men.
When the venture-backed company has an exit (sells or becomes a publicly traded company) those three groups of people — investor, founder, and employee — all benefit financially. They then take the proceeds of that win and invest it into other White male founders. The cycle continues and the wealth gap between this group and those who are underrepresented in tech (e.g. Black, Latinx, women) grows larger and larger.
Founder Gym exists to disrupt the monopoly on wealth.
In 2018, Founder Gym launched its first cohort, training underrepresented founders on how to raise capital to scale their startup. Hundreds of founders from around the world applied, but only 26 were selected. Since then, Founder Gym has grown over 1592% and transformed into a global movement.
Founder Gym has made a massive impact in its first two years.
Until now, Founder Gym has been laser-focused on becoming the best in the world at one thing: teaching underrepresented founders how to raise capital to scale their tech startups and get one step closer to creating generational wealth. But that has only been step one of our game plan.
The next phase of Founder Gym is to help underrepresented founders become recession-proof.
There are many ways to finance a business and there are many ways to monetize a business. Most underrepresented founders do not have personal networks that afford them role models who can show them how using a business to create wealth works. As such, underrepresented founders are not equipped with the knowledge about how to create multiple streams of revenue, nor do they believe that generating millions of dollars is a realistic goal they can achieve. Knowing all of your options to finance a business and mastering different monetization strategies is key to not just surviving as a business, but creating jobs and accumulating wealth.
We have created a new solution that can help: The FG Money Magnet Program.
The FG Money Magnet Program is a six-week, self-paced online program that helps entrepreneurs of all walks of business (e.g. influencers, side-hustlers, small business owners, startup founders, non-profit leaders) generate money in multiple ways.
We have already tested the FG Money Magnet Program with 70 founders across 25 states and 5 countries. (Fun Fact: 13% of these program participants have also graduated from Founder Gym’s flagship program: The FG Fundraising Cohort).
