Gameday!
Hi everyone! Ian from FourLeaf here. This past Friday, the team and I had a chance to check out some great NBA sides (Cavaliers @ Clippers) in action at the Staples Center.
Chris is a big Cavs fan, so we took the opportunity to wrap up a productive week of work with some NBA action. It was also Tommy’s first live NBA game ever, and while he was a bit sad to learn that Swaggy P wouldn’t feature (as he plays for the Lakers), he had a great time nonetheless.
Our seats were nothing to brag about, but we had a good enough angle on all the action. Kevin Love was nowhere to be found, but the big man Timofey Mozgov made his 5th appearance in a Cavs jersey, putting in a solid shift against the hyper-athletic DeAndre Jordan. It was also a special night for the youngster Tristan Thompson, who had 24 points and 12 very crucial boards on a night when the Clippers saw far too many second-chance buckets. Blake Griffin had a typically monstrous night (34 points and 10 rebounds in 41 minutes), but it was Kyrie “Uncle Drew” Irving who stole the show, putting up 37 points, including several big buckets down the stretch to help the Cavs put the game away in the closing minutes of the final period. J. J. Redick finished the game with the highest +/- of the night, further lending credence to the idea that +/- is the single most useless metric in modern basketball.
As a special bonus for the musically-inclined members of the crowd, Jay-Z and Beyonce were pictured on the Jumbotron on multiple occasions. Outside of an abnormal turnover rate (9 throughout the game), LeBron put up huge numbers, to the evident delight of his special guests — the only time you’ll catch Jay rooting against LeBron is when they play Brooklyn.
Overall, the team had a great time watching some quality basketball (not you, J. R.) — we’re looking forward to our next outing to Staples! Jeremy Lin was kind enough to offer to leave passes for us for an upcoming home game, so we’ll have another NBA-related post then. I’m a big Pistons fan myself, but I’m not sure if Detroit v. Jeremy is a dilemma I’m willing to confront personally. We’ll probably have to pick a game with more neutral teams. In any case, Tommy is certainly looking forward to getting a chance to see his personal hero (Nick “Swaggy P” Young) in action. In the meantime, thanks for following our updates! Stay tuned for some music and product-related posts coming in the near future.
