We’ve all been there! You return to your dorm after a night out on the town when you’re struck with a case of the late-night munchies. Perhaps you’re in an “altered state of mind,” or perhaps you’ve just danced off your daily caloric intake. Whatever the case may be, you need sustenance and you need it now!

Whether you’ve got a hankering for tacos or pizza, we’ve got you covered. We looked into the restaurants, pizza parlors and late-night cookie joints with the most visits between 12–4am near some of the country’s most prestigious institutions for higher education, as well as some of the most notorious party schools**, in order to determine the best “late-night” college eats.

**The colleges included are those in the US News and World Report best colleges list, as well as those anointed as top party schools in the 2016 list of party schools by Princeton Review.

We partnered with our friends at Mapbox to create this sweet interactive map, which highlights some of the best places to get your grub on after you get your chug on.

Methodology: The 58 schools in this map are winners in their own right. They’re the top 50 schools as identified by the Best Colleges rankings from US News and World Report as well as the 2016 top-ranked party schools as chosen by Princeton Review. To identify the most popular late-night spots, we looked at where people age 17–25 visited near specific college campuses by selecting a radius around the school based on location (the radius around a city school is larger than that of a college town that has a more centralized campus). Visits include both implicit visits from Foursquare and check-ins from Swarm. Only venues with a minimum qualifying number of visits within the last academic calendar year were included, and no more than 10 venues were included per school (some schools have fewer).
