A Quick Study of My Stats
What can we learn from analyzing our most-read stories?
I was scrolling through my published stories, putting them into lists, (which I highly recommend*) and couldn’t help noticing that some stories are much more popular than others. So I thought I’d take “a moment” to try to analyze my stats, to see if any secrets of success would be revealed.
My quest was inspired by this success-analysis story by , who is an excellent and successful writer on Medium — a writer who earns four figures a month. That didn’t happen by luck. She makes an ongoing effort to figure out what works best.
But that doesn’t mean she’s writing clickbait. She writes about topics that genuinely interest her.
In the framework of Fourth Wave — which has a mission of spreading feminist ideals worldwide; increasing equality, freedom, and justice for all — the more people a story reaches, the greater impact its message. So increasing readership aligns with those lofty goals. But also, we all need to be paid for the good work we do, so it behooves us to figure out how to make that happen. puts that like this:
