Canada Voted
But we still need to make our voices heard
My Canada held an election last week. We voted in a new Prime Minister. Our Liberal party stayed in power partly because its leader demonstrated the ability to talk firmly to and about Donald Trump. He’s not as left as I would have liked, but we don’t have much of that here, even from our New Democratic Party. Everyone is afraid of alienating the vote, so they all scamper to the centre or even the right to try to capture the hearts of frightened constituents while pretending to have novel ideas that will save the commoners from the oligarchs.
With great relief, I watched the election results roll in to discover that Pierre Poilievre, from our very own Canadian Conservative party, Maple-MAGA, had not been chosen to be our new Prime Minister. Even better, he did not get elected in his own riding.
However, Pierre, nicknamed PeePee, lives on. He is refusing to resign, proclaiming a Conservative victory in the large number of discontented Canadians who voted for him. While he did not get elected as Prime Minister and couldn’t rule the Conservative party as their leader from the sidelines very well, he has a plan. Someone has agreed to step down as a member of parliament in a riding where he is highly likely to be elected in the grand Conservative fortress of Alberta. Sadly for those who think like me…
