Change is Surely Coming

Let the pendulum swing

A troll crows about the triumph of Trump
on X,
threatening rape squads,
to terrorize women.

Pay no heed to that withered claw on the keyboard
of a so-called “man.”
Don’t give him the attention he craves — from you.
Ignore Elon’s X and China’s TikTok
and all the other online cesspools.

Out in the *real* world,
A father sits at a cafe
with his baby boy bundled on his lap
cuddled and cooing as Daddy gives him a bottle.

An old man waters roses in his garden,
A young man coaches a little girls’ team,
A sweet son helps his mom carry groceries,
A good husband cooks breakfast
for his loved and loving wife.

These are the men
I see around me,
the men I love,
the men I give a place of honor to
in my private mind.
