Did I Decline Your Story?
That was a mistake
I accidentally declined a story submitted to Fourth Wave recently. Did you have a story submission declined without receiving a private message explaining why? If so, please resubmit! I do not know the title of the story or who was the author. All I know is I pushed the wrong button and “poof,” a story disappeared. I blame Medium’s new but still-evolving Submission Folder, now called the Inbox. Buttons looked different that day than they had looked the day before. I’ve tried to discover which story I declined, but currently, there are no tools available to do that — although there was a week ago!
We do decline stories on occasion, but not without some kind of explanation. We try to be respectful of all potential contributors. That said, this is an international feminist magazine focused on social justice, so submissions must be related to those themes. If you’d like to join the conversation about how to lift girls and women up worldwide, submit to the Wave!
And if you had a story declined recently without explanation, I apologize. Please resubmit.
Besides writing stories about movies, books, mental illness, and politics on Medium, I edit the feminist publication Fourth Wave and I’ve published two novels here: Thirsty Work and Count All This. Get an email whenever I publish. And if you’re a writer with a story about social justice, submit to Fourth Wave.
