Intersectional feminism looks at the many ways that a culture predicated on an artificial pyramid of power impacts discrimination, marginalization, and disempowerment. It notes that patriarchy is not just an unfair gender hierarchy, but an entire system wherethe interplay between any kind of discrimination, whether it’s based on gender, race, age, class, socioeconomic status, physical or mental ability, sexual identity, religion, or ethnicity” is taking place.

Yes, feminism is primarily interested in ameliorating the effects of thousands of years of abuses and unfair treatment of women at the hands of an androcentric society — many of which are still going on today, despite some real progress. But, this dominance-based artificial hierarchy system doesn’t just harm women — it harms everyone — including men.
