I Am Bone Tired Of People Telling Women How To Show Up
Last month, a bestselling author was bullied off the internet for growing too fast and not being “meek” enough
Last week I got a private message chastising me for my tone. Apparently I was too negative for his liking. Which was pretty tame compared to the guy who said I pulled words out of my a**, which was pretty tame compared to the guy who told me exactly what should be done to women like me.
It’s not just me. Some women have it far worse.
Last month, a best-selling author was bullied off a major platform.
I am not using names because names don’t matter, what happened matters. Here’s her story. Back in 2009, she started a blog. Four years slogging it out, posting to that blog. Finally, in 2013, her audience was big enough that when she pitched her first book, she landed a solid publishing deal.
So she kept doing her thing for another twelve years. Posting on her blog and sending out her newsletter. Fifteen years, from 2009 to now. She also wrote four more books and one of her books made Oprah’s book club.
Last month, she joined an online platform. Wham. Just like that, she had two hundred thousand followers. Wow. Can you even imagine?
