Even women with partners are going to end up alone

My ex-husband will probably die before me. My boyfriend will probably die before me. Why? Because they are older than me. Because women tend to live longer than men.

Here’s the thing that should be obvious but for some reason it is not to some people: I was always going to end up alone. This is the fate of many, many coupled women.

It is what it is. I have always expected to end up widowed or bereaved.

Things could change

Of course, I could take up with a young man at some point. I could be like George Sand! Oh wait- her young man died before her. Nonetheless, if I do pick a young man in my bereavement, I will do so to take care of my sexual needs. While I am perfectly happy in my relationship, I have no desire to go out and begin another one with anyone else, ever again.
