I’m not the only one who felt that getting Donald Trump out of the White House was a lot like getting rid of an abusive dad. I got up at 5am to watch him leave on live TV. It meant that much to me.

The cessation of his authority plays out in many ways. Like any person with PTSD, I’m not sure I believe the nightmare is over — and I probably shouldn’t rest easy, given the violent mobs of white supremacists Trump awakened during his term — but certain details reassure me that a kinder and gentler reality is here.

One of those details is the new White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, who is truly a joy to behold.

First, let’s recall how White House press briefings went during the Trump administration. The professional journalists who were attempting to cover the White House were basically assigned to sit and suffer abuse on live TV for four years.
