I’m not a big fan of rich people. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to have any money. Money is power. Money is freedom. And I bet you can guess who has all the money, power, and freedom these days.
That’s right: men.
All you have to do is look around at who’s running big business, big government, and big religion to see what’s up. Who’s buying elections? Who’s performing free labor? The gender wealth gap is clear as day in the U.S. Still, I like to back up my conclusions with statistics, so I looked around for a few. And following the money was surprisingly hard to do.
Company ownership is often obscured, for one thing. For example, who owns the biggest companies in the world?
Who owns the most land? Seven kings, one pope, one sultan, and one lady from Australia (Gina Rinehart). How about the most expensive properties? One woman (a widow) appears on this Top 10 list.
