Trump broke the law and flouted the U.S. Constitution by arresting Mahmoud Khalil
Let’s quit pretending. The Republicans currently running the U.S government do not believe in the U.S. Constitution. And they don’t believe everybody deserves equal rights under the law — only white male Republicans. This was proven once again when Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested Mahmoud Khalil in his home for leading protests on Columbia University campus against Israel’s continued bombardment of Palestine.
I don’t know every amendment, but I know the first one. We have a right to peaceably assemble. That’s an essential right for any democratic nation. U.S. government officials do not have the right to suppress opposition and put their political opponents in jail. In fact, the U.S. Constitution expressly forbids it.
