Scenes from “No Kings” Anti-Trump Protest in San Francisco
Thousands turned out on June 14 to say “Stop!” to cruel, illegal, and pointlessly destructive policies
I went to the No Kings protest in San Francisco yesterday. The plan was to gather in Dolores Park in the Mission District and walk to City Hall downtown, which Google Maps tells me is a 1.4 mile, 34-minute walk. But I took the bus and joined protestors midway, on Market St., where a big crowd of all kinds of people was pouring out from Dolores St.
The crowd seemed a little tense, unsure what would happen. We saw a lot of police at one intersection, geared up and guarding the peace. They didn’t seem threatening, but their gear did — sunglasses, helmets, camouflage, and weaponry. When a fire engine approached with its siren on, it seemed that everyone held their breath. But then a firefighter made a peace sign out the window, and we laughed and relaxed.
