White Women, Your Whiteness Won’t Save You If Trump Wins
White women no longer have the luxury to keep their heads in the sand
In every Presidential election year over the last decade or two, people have stated that it’s the most important one ever. However, I’m concerned about how seriously one demographic group is taking this year’s election.
The danger that Donald Trump presents to women
The fact that 52% of white women voted for Donald Trump in 2016 and 55% of them voted for him in 2020 should never have come as a shock to anyone. Many people say it’s due to internalized misogyny, but I’ve always felt the reason why these women would vote against their interests and cast their vote for a demagogue cut deeper than simply them hating themselves. It’s because they value their whiteness over their womanhood.
Donald Trump has hinted that he will erode the rights of marginalized people even further if he gets back into office. His allies have drafted a blueprint for that called Project 2025. It’s a transitional blueprint of how to turn the country into a fascist state within the first 180 days of Donald Trump’s second term.
