Mainstream media is complicit in the destruction of America
I showed up at my weekly meeting with my friend and writing partner ready to devote a few hours to my latest feminist project, but then made the mistake of opening my phone to see this headline in the New York Times: “Trump’s Gaza Plan Has Many Pitfalls, Hamas Among the Biggest.”
Many pitfalls?!? WTF NYT?!?!
To any not in the know, Trump suggested at a Feb. 4 news conference with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the U.S. could take over Gaza — where more than 62,000 Palestinians have been killed since October in a bombed out landscape of destruction and despair — and turn it into another French Riviera. How is it okay to normalize this racist, cruel, selfish, imperialist, money grubbing, brutal, colonialist, and batshit crazy idea by implying it might work except for a few “pitfalls?”
I am beyond disappointed in our nation’s “paper of record” (aka mouthpiece of empire) for normalizing Donald Trump’s super villain behavior as he shuts down the American government and threatens to destroy the world.
