Hooray for small business!

It’s National Small Business Week this week — May 1–7 — and the Small Business Administration (SBA) is honoring small businesses and the people who created them. This week the SBA has events, information and a lot more for companies under about 250 employees.

Why?

Small businesses aren’t small. In fact, according to the SBA, small businesses make up about two thirds of the U.S. employers. In 2011, more than 28 million small businesses existed and the economy has only expanded since then.

Not to sound cliche, but small businesses are the engines that drive the economy. If they falter, all businesses does. It’s a chain reaction.

So … what?

Think about all the small businesses and the money being pumped into the economy. You know someone who has a small business or someone who works for a small business. Maybe it’s time to thank them.

Thank you, small businesses!
