So you’re a budding young writer who’d like to add “Writer at Fracoso” to his or her or their Instagram/Twitter bio. Well, you’re in luck! This quick resource guide is meant to make that as easy as possible for you.

Here, you will find everything you need to know in order to get your written work featured in Fracoso as well as general best practices on how to succeed here on Medium.

Let’s begin, shall we?

How to Get Added as a Contributor

Before we get into the what and how of submitting, let’s make sure you’re on our radar. Applying to Fracoso has never been easier.

Just fill out this form:

You should be added within 2–4 business days (though we do pride ourselves on being quicker). Once added, you should receive an email from Medium confirming so, depending on your settings. You will also be able to see us in your list of publications, but more on that below.

Writing Guidelines for Fracoso:

· Each story should be more than 800 words.

· Include a title and sub-title at the top of your article.

· Add at least one photo, image or video.

· Keep your paragraphs short and to-the-point, with no more than 3 or 4 sentences per paragraph. This makes it easier to read on screen. One-sentence paragraphs are acceptable.

· Use Medium’s formatting for headings, links and quotes, etc, throughout your article.

· Finish your article with a short conclusion.

· Every time you refer to a source, add details of your source, including a link if possible, in the body of the text itself.

· Please do not include promotional links and calls to action (such as a request to sign up for your newsletter) in your article. Your Medium profile will be displayed with your published article and this can include a link to your website and/or information on the products or services you offer.

The Dirt:

Specifically, we abide by Medium’s own curation guidelines and rules while reviewing story submissions, as that sets everyone here up for success.

Good, descriptive headlines, clearly conveying an idea, proper formatting… these are the elements of a good story on Medium. Avoid major typos and grammar mistakes, all-caps headlines, clickbait, and being overly vague.

Here are some of the most common errors we see:

We prefer to receive (and will only accept going forward) unpublished drafts as opposed to pre-published submissions. This enables us to schedule new content out and ensure every piece spends ample time on our front page.

We also prefer to receive members-only content because it’s subject to curation and thus has the potential to bring a larger number of visitors to the page. This also helps earn the author money for their work, so joining the Medium Partner Program is worthwhile on both ends.

How to Submit Your Story for Consideration

Now that you’ve applied to be a contributor and have a better understanding of what success looks like here, it’s time to actually send us some stories.

The next time you finish a draft, just do the following to submit it to us:

  1. Click the “” button near the top-right corner of the page
  2. Select “Add to publication
  3. Choose “Fracoso” from the list of pubs (depending on the number you may need to scroll)
  4. Click “Add draft” to submit your story for review
  5. Wait patiently for your draft to be reviewed (we’ll try our best to do so within 48–72 hours)

Depending on your settings, you should receive an email from Medium once your story is accepted or rejected. If it’s rejected, we’ll try our best to explain why by posting a private comment at the top of your article’s page.

If you focus on the written guidelines above (especially Medium’s), you’ll have a good shot at getting your story published, curated, and noticed.

Payment

If you’re a member of the Medium Partner Program, you can make your article eligible for payment under the terms of the Medium Partner Program.

Sign up for the Medium Partner Program before submitting your article to Small Steps. Make your story eligible for payment under the Medium Partner Program before adding it to Fracoso.

You’ll receive 100% of the earnings for your story from Medium directly.

That’s it! If you’ve taken note of the various rules and nuances here, you should be well on your way to becoming a published writer in Fracoso.

We hope you found this resource useful. If you have any questions, feedback, or concerns, just let us know. You can reach us via email or fill up the form given above, and we will contact you directly.
