Frequently asked questions we get about using your Fractal Account
How do I sign into Fractal?
If you’re using the same device and browser you originally used to create your Fractal Account, you’ll be automatically signed in — and there’s nothing for you to do.
If you aren’t automatically signed in, or you’re using a new device or browser, you have 3 options to sign in:
- Find the recovery email you received when you first created your Fractal Account, tap the recovery link, sign into your Google account, then enter your recovery password on Fractal (recommended)
- Approve the new device from a device you’re already logged into
- Type in your seed phrase
What is a recovery email?
The recovery email helps you to sign into Fractal from any device. Once you create your Fractal Account, you’ll receive an email with a recovery link. If you ever need to recover your account in the future, tap that link and enter your password associated with the recovery email.
You can set up as many recovery emails as you’d like. The recovery email does not need to be the original email that is tied to your Fractal Account.
How can I set up additional recovery emails?
Visit your account and tap Setup account recovery
What is a seed phrase?
A seed phrase is a sequence of 12 random words linked to your Fractal Account. Think of your seed phrase as a “master key” — as long as you know it, you’ll always have access to your account and everything inside of it, no matter what. In fact, you can even import your seed phrase into a third-party wallet to access items tied to your Fractal Account at any time.
Do not share your seed phrase with anyone! Make sure you’ve written it down and saved it in a secure location.
How can I export my seed phrase?
Visit your account and tap Export seed phrase.
What does overriding my seed phrase do?
You can override your seed phrase with a seed phrase of another wallet. Doing so will replace the items in your Fractal Account with the items in that other wallet.
However, it doesn’t mean those items are gone forever. If you ever want to access the items associated with your old seed phrase, you can re-import the old seed phrase to your Fractal Account. So be sure to write it down somewhere!
What does resetting my seed phrase do?
You can reset your seed phrase to generate a new one. Doing so will remove all the items inside your Fractal Account.
However, it doesn’t mean those items are gone forever. If you ever want to access the items associated with your old seed phrase, you can re-import the old seed phrase to your Fractal Account. So be sure to write it down somewhere!
