All Hands 2018

Between Monday, April 8th and Thursday, April 11th, the Fractured Atlas offices will be closed for our annual “All Hands” staff meeting. Please note that during these four days, staff will not be answering phones and will have very limited access to email.

During All Hands on Monday and Tuesday, staff will devote time to focus on and discuss big-picture subjects such as coordinating the work and priorities of different teams within Fractured Atlas; our shared purpose as an organization; how successfully we’re fulfilling our mission; and what we can do to better serve our members. During Wednesday and Thursday, staff will continue our Anti-Racism/Anti-Bias work with intensive trainings.

But why are we closing the offices for a full four days? Several reasons. As mentioned previously, our staff hails from all over the U.S. and about half of our staff are fully remote. While remote work is great for flexibility, it’s not conducive to having focused, organizational-level conversations and making sure everyone’s voice is heard in that context. The conversations that will be had during All Hands are important, not just for organizational identity, but because they directly affect how we serve our members. And we believe that for these conversations to be most effective, they need to happen uninterrupted, in person, and with everyone present.

It won’t all be serious business, though. It’s a rare treat to have everyone under one roof, and we’re going to make the best use of the time we have together. Good food, drinks, and laughs will be had while we get to know each other better and become a more effective team. We’ve also made it a point to go out and experience the amazing work of some of our member artists.

We understand that our offices being closed for four days may affect your work, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding. In the meantime, please feel free to email us with any questions.
