The Amphion Foundation is accepting applications for its 2019 Spring Grant Program.

Description: The Amphion Foundation, Inc., founded in 1987 by Elliott and Helen Carter, was established to encourage the performance of contemporary concert music, particularly by American composers, through support to performing and presenting organizations that have demonstrated sustained artistic excellence, in addition to service organizations.

Applications may be submitted by publicly supported non-profit or fiscally-sponsored Performing Ensembles that have a history of substantial commitment to contemporary concert music at a high level of excellence.

The Humboldt Area Foundation is accepting applications for its The Native Cultures Fund.

Description: The Native Cultures Fund is dedicated to supporting California’s original peoples, their art and cultural revitalization. Preference will be given for grants involving art created by Native artists, cultural mentorship between generations, and/or creation of California Indian cultural models that can be shared. Traditional or contemporary art projects, cultural or ceremonial projects, sacred site protection or creation, traditional foodways restoration, education and language programs are eligible. Individuals, organizations, or community partnerships may apply.

Geographic Focus: Tolowa/Dee-ni’ Nation peoples near the Oregon border, inland to the Paiute and Shoshone Nations along the Nevada border, and south to the Chumash peoples of the Santa Barbara area.

The Harkness Foundation for Dance is accepting applications for its Dance Grant Program.

Description: The Harkness Foundation for Dance is a private grant-making foundation dedicated to invigorating and supporting the dance art form, predominantly in New York City. Since its inception the Foundation has contributed significantly to the dance field, extending grants to over 560 organizations. The Harkness Board of Trustees meets three times annually to consider proposals.

The Foundation supports dance companies, dance presenting organizations, dance education organizations, and dance service organizations. Proposing organizations and artists must have non-profit status, with an in-force 501(c)(3) letter or letter of fiscal sponsorship.

Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation is accepting applications for USArtists International.

Description: The USArtists International program (USAI) supports performances by U.S. artists at significant international festivals and performing arts marketplaces outside the United States and its territories. The program supports the engagements of exemplary solo artists and ensembles across all performing arts disciplines including dance, music, theater, multidisciplinary work, and folk/traditional arts.

USArtists International is designed to encourage and promote the vibrant diversity of U.S. artists and creative expression in the performing arts by expanding opportunity and exposure to international audiences, encouraging international cultural exchange, and enhancing creative and professional development of U.S. artists by providing connections with presenters, curators and fellow artists. The program is committed to the presence of U.S. artists on world stages and aims to extend the reach and impact of professional artists dependent on touring for continued sustainability and career advancement.

Chamber Music America is accepting applications for its 2019 Classical Commissioning Program.

Description: Chamber Music America’s Classical Commissioning Program provides grants to professional U.S.-based presenters and ensembles whose programming includes Western European and/or non-Western classical and contemporary music. Grants are provided for the commissioning and performance of new works by American composers. The program supports works scored for 2–10 musicians performing one per part, composed in any of the musical styles associated with contemporary classical music.

The CMA Board of Directors has made diversity, inclusion, and equity a primary focus of the organization’s work. CMA seeks to fulfill its vision for the future, where people of all races, religions, genders, and abilities are able to fully participate in the performance, presentation, and enjoyment of the many styles of small ensemble music.

Harpo Foundation is accepting applications for Visual Arts and New Work Project Grants.

Description: New Work Project Grants are made to non-profit organizations in support of new work by under-recognized artists 21 years or older.

Applications are evaluated on the basis of the quality of the artist’s work, the potential to expand aesthetic inquiry, and its relationship to the foundation’s priority to provide support to visual artists who are under recognized by the field.

The foundation considers proposals that directly support the production of new work by visual artists and/or collaborative teams who are under recognized by the field. This production may happen in the context of an installation, public intervention, residency, or exhibition.

The Awesome Foundation is accepting applications for Awesome Disability grants.

Description: Awesome Disability is an independent chapter of the Awesome Foundation, a global community that provides micro grants with no strings attached.The trustees of Awesome Disability are people with disabilities that want to support people in the community. Whether you’re a maker, artist, writer, the grant program wants to fund your great ideas and projects.

Deadline: April 15, 2019 (They accept submissions for the month’s grant between the 1st through the 15th of the current month.)

The MacDowell Colony is accepting applications for its Fall Residency Program.

Description: Operating on the property of the late Edward MacDowell, arguably America’s first great composer, the MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, New Hampshire, nurtures the arts by offering creative individuals of the highest talent an inspiring environment in which they can produce enduring works of the imagination.

The colony currently is accepting applications from emerging and established artists for its fall fellowship program in the following disciplines: architecture, film/video arts, interdisciplinary arts, literature, music composition, theater, and visual arts. The fellowship includes exclusive use of a private studio, accommodations, and three prepared meals a day for a period of two weeks to two months.

Fall residences are available from October 1, 2019, to January 31, 2020. There are no residency fees, and travel grants as well as need-based stipends are available (though artists are generally responsible for the cost of travel to and from the colony).

The sole criterion for acceptance is artistic excellence, which is defined in a pluralistic and inclusive way. The colony encourages applications from artists representing a range of perspectives and demographics. Individuals enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree programs as of the date of application are ineligible for a fellowship.
