“Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?”

Some people have a problem with Snow White. The vain queen is so jealous of the young princess that she wants to have her killed. Even worse, the prince does save the innocent girl from death but the kiss is “non-consented” because she’s unconscious, so how dares he?

Why doesn’t the queen acknowledge her privilege and propagate plants or something? Why doesn’t the prince wake her up and ask: “Excuse me, would you be so kind as to let me kiss you?”

Have we gone too far? Yes. As always, ignorance can be the source of nonsense.

The 1937 Disney animated movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is based on an old European legend probably inspired by an even older real-life story far worse than the cartoon.

Believe it or not, Snow White is a German folk tale published by the Brothers Grimm in 1812. Since then it changed its form a few times until the Grimms made the final version in 1854.
