Last week the global geospatial intelligence community converged in San Antonio, Texas, where Frame was a hot topic. Agencies like the NGA and the NRO attended to discover the next gen technologies that will empower them to achieve their missions faster and with higher security. With over 5000 attendees, this is the largest geospatial conference in the world.

Frame was featured at GEOINT 2017 alongside a number of partners including Harris, Textron, ESRI, Boundless, AGI and Geoweb3d. All of these software partners develop traditional Windows desktop applications that leading public sector customers need to have available in the cloud. We were at GEOINT to show just how good the experience can be running any of these applications from a browser on any device.

In our booth we highlighted our capabilities by running 3D intensive applications from a Chromebox connected over a mi-fi hotspot to the cloud. Traditionally, GIS applications would require a high-end workstation. Of course with Frame we were able to deliver a fully interactive 3D experience from a browser. Analysts who came by and felt the quality of the performance were raving about it and the word spread fast.

This community is highly focused on “cloud first” technologies. At Harris they took it upon themselves to run Frame in their booth to highlight the power the cloud brings to ENVI, their image analysis software. By running their analysis tools in the cloud, analysts can scale up their compute resources on-demand, allowing them to process even the highest resolution Lidar models in minutes. In one demo they were able to process a 12.6 Gb Lidar point cloud in 20 minutes that traditionally would have taken four hours.

To get a feel for the use cases that were demoed at the conference, check out how the Harris product team showed their software running in the cloud using Frame:

Overall, we were amazed by the response to Frame and we look forward to working with the geospatial community to deliver any application securely from the cloud to any device.
