The Bing search engine from Microsoft is taking the spotlight for the first time in a decade after launching a GPT-powered interface. However, the tech giant has been cautious about the pace at which it is rolling out the new Bing offering — developed using OpenAI’s GPT-4 technology — to users. But it seems those barriers are being lifted.

Microsoft, a major investor in OpenAI, appears to have removed the waiting list for the new Bing, ostensibly allowing anyone to have instant access to the new experience. While the new Bing landing page still shows the typical “Join the waitlist” button, you can enter and gain instant access.

The company has not specified if it is fully getting rid of the waiting list, but in a statement, Microsoft said it is conducting several experiments to onboard more users: “During this preview period, we are running several tests that may accelerate access to the new Bing for some users. We continue to be in preview and you can sign up at Bing.com.

The partnership between Microsoft and OpenAI has been successful, with Bing recently registering 100 million daily active users. This is not surprising, considering the hype around AI-based chatbots, which have attracted tens of millions of eager users to try them.

After some issues related to users circumventing chatbot restrictions and making inappropriate comments, Microsoft began testing with various conversation limitations. This week, the company increased the limit to 15 turns in a conversation and 150 messages per day.
