If you’re reading this, chances are you enjoy Frame Rated or are interesting in writing for a website. Luckily, we’re after new writers!

We specifically need writers for the main website, not just our Medium publication (which everything is syndicated to the next day). So if you only have an interest in Medium, we hope you wouldn’t mind writing foremost for the site and then importing your work to Medium afterwards.

All types of writer are welcome, but it would be useful if you’re keen to review contemporary releases in cinemas or online, as well as write retrospective reviews of older classics. Film is the primary focus, but television shows are also covered in season overviews. You can come from anywhere in the world if the time-zone difference with the UK isn’t an issue for you, but be aware we mostly cover US and UK media.

If you’re interested, there’s already a specific page with more information about how to contribute — which is focused on how things work here on Medium, but still useful. You can read it here.

Or, if you prefer, just contact us directly by email, including the following:

  • A brief introduction about yourself and your interests.
  • Three relevant examples of work you think are a good fit for the site.

If you don’t receive a response, you’re not what we’re looking for, sorry. But if you do hear back, we’ll likely want you to pitch some ideas about reviews to write so we assess your work before welcoming you to Frame Rated.

We look forward to hearing from (some of) you!

Dan Owen
Editor-in-Chief, Frame Rated.
