What Could Be More Gratifying Than Receiving Something Unexpected?
You might have experienced it.
Finding a bill in an old pair of pants. That sense of surprise, like winning a prize.
But we know that life usually isn’t like that. It’s often a constant succession of responsibilities and routine, right? But there’s a way to change this, to have these pleasant surprises regularly.
Waking up in the morning, looking in the mirror, and thinking, ‘Today I look great.’
Ending a month with more money in your account than expected.
Getting up feeling completely rested.
And the key to having these consistent experiences is simple:
Direct your habits.
We all have patterns of behavior; they’re like our brain and body’s preferred way of doing things.
We settle into a routine, and from there, we only receive what that routine offers us.
For example: What do we eat? Usually, what’s in the fridge.
Routine: buying the same things at the store and bringing them home. Then, it’s just a stretch of the hand to take what the fridge offers.
A routine, a simple action. And that determines the outcomes in our lives.
So, the question is:
If you’re already a result of your habits, why not take the time to direct them towards growth?
